The T-20 cricket World cup 2016 event, 1st part of the qualifiers were held in 2015: The ICC T-20 cricket qualifier of 2015, in which participated 14 nations instead of 16 (in the last edition). Oman cricket team were ranked last like 14th (overall ranking- 29 or 30*).

The ICC have there, 6 slots were open for there qualifications for 2nd part of qualifiers team. And there are first 5 Following nations were to qualify: Ireland, Scotland, Hong Kong, Netherlands and Afghanistan. And the 6th one team is ? Oman (What Luck?). They defeated Namibia. The win was such a huge when you consider that Oman team had only played one-day in Division Five of World Cricket League, while Namibia have already been in a ICC Cricket World Cup in (2003) once.

In the 2nd part of qualifiers, there are two kinds of groups have been made each of 4 teams. Oman are placed alongside Ireland, Netherlands and Bangladesh.

In last match Oman played their first match against Ireland very well played by Oman, supposedly one of the heavy-weights among the competing teams for qualifiers. In Second Batting, required 65 runs for Oman required in their last 6 overs with remaining of 5 wickets. And finally Oman won it from Ireland. For a nation, which is trying to find its feet in international cricket, its pretty big. From nowhere, Oman are suddenly visible to all and to ICC. They still have a long path to go and success. They will most certainly not even qualify for the main draw, given that only 1 team from every group of qualifies, but people should come to know about the fight they are showing through their so hard work and subsequent results.
